Maria Guadalupe Lopez Sanchez, affectionately known as Lupie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at the age of 52, in her hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on May 1, 1973, to Julian and Guadalupe Lopez, Lupie's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and the joy she brought to those around her.
Lupie's legacy is cherished by her beloved husband, Juan Jesus Sanchez, and her adored stepson, Juan Jesus Sanchez, Jr. She was a treasured daughter, sister, and aunt, leaving behind her parents; her sisters, Nelda Zarate (Abraham) and Lisa Lopez; her brothers, Julian (Gloria), Gerardo (Mary), Danny (Elizabeth), Harvey, Hector, Lino Lopez, and Gabriel Lopez (Laryssa); brothers-in- law, Danny Sanchez (Andra), and Manuel David Sanchez† ; and sister-in-law, Patricia Sanchez. She also leaves behind her pet Yorkie, Zoey; along with numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved as her own; and host of extended family members who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
From a young age, Lupie's passion for her faith was evident. She made history as the first female altar server at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church, where she later served with distinction as the president of the altar servers. Her devotion to her faith was matched only by her commitment to her family and community. As a masterful cook and baker, Lupie was the heart of every family gathering, her hands crafting the meals and desserts that brought everyone together in celebration and gratitude.
Lupie's involvement in the church extended beyond her official roles. She was an active and beloved member of the parish; known for her radiant smile and the love she poured into every interaction. Her faith was her compass, guiding her through life's challenges and inspiring those around her to live with grace and compassion.
As we bid farewell to Maria Guadalupe “Lupie” Lopez Sanchez, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. Her memory will continue to inspire us, and her spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends.
