Maria Mattessich (nee:Bussanich), age 86, of Palisades Park, passed away on Thursday May 9, 2024. Born on May 23rd, 1937, in Susak, Croatia to the late Giovanni and Francesca (nee: Piccinich) Bussanich. Maria immigrated to Hoboken, N.J. when she was 14. In her early life Maria worked as a seamstress. She later worked in Grand Union and A &P for many years.
She will always be remembered for her love of singing and dancing. Maria enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devout catholic and very involved in her parish. She also enjoyed traveling and visited many different places. Maria was a kind soul who was always willing to help a friend in need.
Maria is predeceased by her beloved husband, Celestino and loving son Raymond. Cherished mother of Joann and son in law Jeffery, Daniel and daughter in law Natalie, Celeste and son in law Ari, daughter in law Vivian. Beloved grandmother of Samantha, Sarah, Jacob, Evan and Zoe.
The family will receive their friends on Monday, May 13th from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AMat the Frank A. Patti and Kenneth Mikatarian Funeral Home, 327 Main Street "opposite the Fort Lee Library". The funeral will leave at 11:30 AM for funeral mass in St. Nicholas R.C. Church Palisades Park at 12:00 PM. For condolences, directions, or information www.frankpatti.com or call (201) 944-0100.
