Maria G. Mazza, (nee DeAngelis), passed away due to natural causes on August 29, 2024, at the age of 80 in Toms River, New Jersey. Born on July 2, 1944, in the picturesque city of Naples, Italy, Maria was a beacon of love and kindness to all who knew her.
Maria leaves behind her devoted husband of 61 loving years Salvatore Mazza, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship. She also leaves a legacy of love and nurturing in her daughter, Francesca Capozzi, (nee Mazza) and son-in-law, Joe Capozzi, who felt her warmth and support in every aspect of their lives. Maria's three adored grandchildren, Joseph, Salvatore, and Alessia Capozzi, were the light of her life. She delighted in spoiling them and was deeply involved in their upbringing and achievements.
Though predeceased by her loving son, Rosario Mazza, his memory and spirit lived on through Maria's stories and the life lessons she passed down to her grandchildren. Daughter of the late Francesco and Rosalia DeAngelis, Maria grew up in a bustling household with her 11 siblings, Francesco (Ciccio), DeAngelis Giuseppe DeAngelis and Emma Solazzo. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Patrizia Constantino- McClelland, Rosa DeAngelis Esposito, Rafael DeAngelis Domenico DeAngelis, Felicia Deangelis Bisogna, and Luigi DeAngelis and numerous nieces and nephews.
After moving to America in 1961 she settled in Belleville Nj then met the love of her life Salvatore. Maria turned her skilled hands and creative flair to the profession of seamstress. She poured her talent into every stitch at Don's Drapery in Belleville, NJ, where she transformed simple cloth into beautiful draperies that adorned countless homes, much like the way her personality embellished the lives of those around her.
In 2006 Maria and husband retired and moved to the Jersey Shore Maria's interests were an extension of her love for her family. An exceptional cook, she found joy in preparing traditional Italian meals that would gather the extended family around the dinner table, immersed in lively conversations and the comforting aromas of her kitchen. Her passion for sewing was more than a profession-it was a hobby through which she expressed her love, stitching together garments that would become treasured keepsakes. Above all, Maria's most cherished times were those spent with her husband and family, and enjoying the Jersey Shore.
The words that best describe Maria are loving, kind, and thoughtful. She approached life with a heart full of compassion, always putting others before herself. Her unwavering support, and gentle touch were a source of strength and comfort to those privileged to be part of her world. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit remains a guiding light for her family. Maria will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those she loved.
