Maria Virginia Morais, 90, of West Hartford, beloved wife of the late Manuel Morais, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal; she came to Hartford in 1967. She retired from Mount Sinai Hospital, Hartford after many years of service. She was a parishioner and Cursilhista of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Her greatest joy was cooking and spending time with her family.
Maria leaves behind her two daughters and sons-in-law, Eduarda and Adriano Mendes of West Hartford, and Lucy and Manuel Resendes of Mechanicsville, VA, and her brother Armando Figueiredo of Wethersfield. Her pride and joy were her three grandsons, Kyle (Sarah) and Justin (Gemma) Resendes, and Brandon (Mia) Mendes, whom she loved dearly. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family. Maria was predeceased by her parents, José and Maria Figueiredo, and her five brothers: Manuel, Antonio, João, José, and Jaime Figueiredo.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to VITAS Healthcare Hospice for the compassionate and attentive care provided. Their support brought comfort and peace to both Maria Virginia and her family during a difficult time. Thank you to all who visited her and provided support to the family.
