Mrs. Maria M. (Perez) Roskos, also known by all as 'Minnie", 89, of Hubbard, Texas and Calhan, Colorado, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025 at her home in Hubbard with her daughters, Sherry and Tes at her side. Friends may pay respects from 12:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18 at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Roskos family plot in Calhan Memorial Cemetery in Calhan, Colorado.
Minnie was born September 6, 1935 in Dolores, Texas to Paulino and Andrea (Cantu) Perez. She was raised in Laredo, Texas and was the oldest daughter of eight children. Minnie graduated from Martin High School in Laredo. She would soon meet the love of her life, Joseph E. Roskos while he was stationed at the Air Force Base in Laredo. They were married September 16, 1956 in Laredo but would move to Calhan, Colorado where Joe was from to live and start their family.
Joe and Minnie had four children, Bob, Sherry, Dave and Tes. Minnie was a mail carrier for many years in Calhan and Colorado Springs and both Minnie and Joe would retire from the Postal Service. Minnie loved being around her family and friends, cooking, translating for dairy farms all around Calhan and outside wherever she was needed, watching her children play sports, going to church and clubs and especially being the best Nanie ever!! Minnie was known for having a Big Heart and helping anyone in need whether she knew you or not.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, Paulino and Andrea Perez; siblings, Junior, Sylvia, Alonzo, Oscar, Omar and Lily; her husband, Joseph Roskos; two sons, Bob Roskos and David Roskos and granddaughter, Sloane Mills.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sherry (Mark) Bryson and Tes (Jim) Williams; sister, Rose (Thomas) Smith; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Matthew (Kristin) and Allison Roskos, Nicole (Jacob), Riley, Reagan, Jace and Elliot Young, Chelsey Roskos, Conrad IV (Christine) Conrad V and Florence Newton, Christopher Newton, Claire and Sam King, Caitlin Roskos, Lisa Roskos, Jade (Jordan), AJ Mills, Sutton and Lori Nickell, Spencer (Zach) and Drew Meador; Paul (Annette), Tommy (Sylvia) and Jimmy Smith; nephew, Ronnie Roskos; niece, Alice Carpenter and many other extended family members and friends and grand dogs, Pearl, Rexy, Nova and Malcolm.
