Marian Lee Martineau Billeter Anderson
August 12, 1939 – June 25, 2025
Marian Lee Martineau Billeter Anderson, age 85, returned to the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 25, 2025. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and a room full of love-both from this side of the veil and the other, where many eagerly awaited her heavenly homecoming.
Marian was born on August 12, 1939, in Cedar City, Utah, to Arah E. and Rula Jones Martineau. The oldest of five children, Marian grew up in Enterprise, Utah, where she quickly took on responsibilities beyond her years while her parents served as Ordinance Workers in the St. George Temple. She helped raise her younger siblings with love and diligence. Marian shared a special bond with her father, who affectionately called her his "Little Sweetheart," and with her cousin Kathy, who was her lifelong friend.
Marian graduated with high honors from Enterprise High School in 1957, where she was involved in band, choir, and competitive dance. She later moved to Salt Lake City to attend LDS Business College, working as a nanny for the family of the late Senator Bob Bennett. She paused her studies to care for her ailing mother and later completed her Associate Degree at LDS Business College.
While in high school, Marian dated Normand T. Hunt. After his mission and her schooling, they married on August 13, 1960. They began their life together in Ogden, Utah, where they welcomed their first daughter, NaDeen. In 1965, they moved back to Enterprise and completed their family of five children. Marian balanced numerous church callings, taught piano lessons, tended a large garden, and cared for her precious Grandma Jones-all while exemplifying strength, faith, and compassion.
In 1977, the family relocated to North Ogden, Utah, where Marian began her career outside the home as an Administrative Assistant. A highly skilled professional, she could type over 100 words per minute and was fluent in the lost art of shorthand. She used this gift to transcribe more than 1,000 Patriarchal and other Priesthood blessings.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marian served in many church callings: Scouting, Stake Primary Presidency, Primary, Young Women, Relief Society, and as an Ordinance Worker in both the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. Her love of Scouting was inspired by her father, a Silver Beaver Award recipient. Her favorite callings were serving children in the nursery and as Primary President. She always said in Heaven she hopes to serve as Celestial Nursery Leader.
In 1986, Marian met her beloved, Herald Billeter. They were married and sealed in the Ogden Temple in November 1986. They made their home in Salt Lake City until Herald's passing in 1998.
On April 10, 1999, Marian married her devoted and loving husband, Richard M. Anderson. Their union brought Marian many more children and grandchildren, each of whom she loved deeply.
Marian retired from the Utah State Auditor's Office in 2010 and, with Richard, served a couple's Member Leadership Support Mission in the Cottonwood Heights Brighton Stake. They later served at the Metro First Branch at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
Marian's legacy is one of Christlike love. She saw the divine in everyone and treated each person as a beloved child of God. Her warmth touched thousands-through more than 100,000 cards and notes she sent over the years, and the countless loaves of homemade bread she shared. She loved holidays, thoughtfully decorating her home and creating gift packages for her family, friends, and neighbors to remind them how loved they were.
She is preceded in death by her husband Herald Billeter, her daughter NaDeen Smith, her son Vance T. Hunt, sons-in-law, Neil Caldwell and Brian Smith, sister-in-law, Sandy Anderson, brother-in-law Joseph Harrison, and her parents, Arah and Rula Martineau.
Marian is survived by her husband, Richard M. Anderson; daughters LaDawn (Brent) Hansen, Vonya (Cory) Thompson, and Teralee (Eddie) Miller; daughter-in-law Brenda Hunt; siblings Lee (Terri) Martineau, Tonya (Gordon) Crabtree, LaVona (Rich) Cherry, and Ilene (Paul) Dickamore; and bonus siblings David Anderson, Barbara Sue Harrison, and Julie Anderson. She is also survived by bonus children Ben (Kim) Anderson, Michelle (Robert) Lucas, Elizabeth Caldwell, Rebecca (Bill) Bentley, Kate Conyers, Sara Anderson, Stephen (Sarah) Anderson, and Stephanie (Jack) Quincy; 36 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren (with one on the way); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be handled by Myers Mortuary. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the LDS Cottonwood Heights Utah Brighton Stake Center, 2895 East Creek Road, Sandy, UT 84093. Funeral services will take place at the same location on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a viewing beforehand from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Services will be livestreamed by Myers Mortuary.
Interment will follow at Washington Heights Cemetery, 4500 S Washington Blvd, South Ogden, Utah 84403.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Fairfield Village, and Intermountain Hospice, for their exceptional care and compassion.
Marian's life was a testament to grace, compassionate service, and unconditional love. Her legacy will continue to shine through the lives she touched and the family she so dearly cherished.
