It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Marian Kathleen Smith on December 5, 2024, at Georgetown University Hospital. Diagnosed with leukemia in 2016, Marian fought bravely against the disease and its effects until the end.
Marian was born on May 8, 1976, in Yonkers, NY and was raised and attended school in Mahopac Falls, NY. She earned a bachelor's degree in education from the College of New Rochelle and a master's degree in education from Mercy College. Prior to her illness, she worked as a special education teacher in school districts in New York, Florida, and Virginia.
Marian is survived by her devoted parents, James and Mary Lou, her brother James, sister-in-law Sarah, nephews David and Michael, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 3 to 6 pm, at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home (692 US-6, Mahopac, NY 10541). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 10 am, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church (221 E Lake Blvd, Mahopac, NY 10541).
