Marie F. (Jacques) Hogan, age 98 of Warwick, a woman of devout faith as a Roman Catholic, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late William F. Hogan. Born in Providence, Marie was a daughter of the late Louis "Amos" Jacques and Julienne (Labatte) Jacques.
Marie's journey began at St. Charles High School in Providence, graduating as Valedictorian at the age of 16, and later from the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in the Class of 1947. Her career as a Registered Nurse spanned 35 years at Kent County Hospital, where she served as an ICU Head Nurse and Night Shift Nursing Supervisor, building cherished connections with fellow nurses.
Upon retirement, Marie dedicated 20 years to volunteering at St. Rose of Lima School in Warwick, nurturing a special bond with the second graders she assisted. She also selflessly volunteered with Kent VNA Hospice for many years. A devout member of Saints Rose and Clement Parish, Marie actively served as a Eucharistic Minister, President of the Rosary and Altar Society, and CCD teacher, contributing to various church events and activities.
Marie's love for sports, particularly the Red Sox and PC Friars basketball, was evident throughout her life, having grown up attending Providence Reds hockey games. She eagerly anticipated her monthly luncheons with church friends and cherished family gatherings with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, continuing to host Sunday dinners until the age of 90. Recognized in the Bishop Hendricken Hall of Fame for her pivotal role in preserving the school in 1971, Marie's legacy of service and devotion will forever be remembered.
She was the loving mother of Stephen F. Hogan (Deborah), Thomas P. Hogan (former Debra), William E. Hogan (Joanne), Cathleen A. Rines (Richard), Christine M. Swiss (Mark), Timothy J. Hogan (Kris), and Susan K. Hobin (Michael); cherished grandmother of Sean Hogan (Leah), Jennifer Devlin (Sean), Jonathan Hogan, Melissa Kapalka (Steven), Bethany Giblin (Thomas), Gregory Hogan (late Lori), Michele Russo (William), Meghan Mackinnon (Ronald), Patricia Callinan (Devin), Jaimie Paolucci (Nicholas), Joelle O'Hagan (Ryan), Danielle Juhnowski (Matthew), Matthew Swiss (Katie), William R. Hogan (Devon), Hayley Bellavance (Cody), Andrew Hogan, Timothy G. Hogan, Nicholas Hobin, Emily Hogan, and Rebecca Hobin; and 26 great grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her two sisters, Sr. Antoinette Jacques, RJM, and Sr. Jacqueline Jacques, RJM, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her three siblings, Julian Jacques, Emile Jacques and Cecile Primeau.
