Marie J. Zupancic, 81, a lifelong resident of Richford, NY, passed away on December 10, 2025, following a brief illness. Born on May 29, 1944, a daughter of the late John and Sadie (Melnyk) Zupancic, Marie's life was a testament to the power of laughter, selflessness, and community spirit.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Robin and Christie (Jeremiah), and her adoring grandchildren, Guthrie (Tim), Mandon, Nikkita (Jesse), Jason, Shellsea, Lucas, Sawyer (Zoe), Nicolie, Wyatt, Silas, Jordan, and Rilee. Her legacy continues to shine brightly through her special great-grandchildren, Carter, Jedidiah, Theodore, Nevaeh, Aedyn, Kyler, Camdyn, Delilah, Antonio, Zoriah, Lenix, Luella, Lincoln, Ronin, Leo, Rosalie’Jay, Millie, Myah, Everette, Randy, Lane, and Layla.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her significant other Ken Tillotson. Her love for her family was immeasurable, and she was known for her quick wit and infectious humor. Marie had a unique gift for making everyone around her feel cherished and valued.
Fondly known as 'Grandma Gum-Ball' by her grandchildren, Marie had a unique way of making each of her grandkids feel special. In the community of Richford, Marie was a familiar and beloved figure. Her selfless nature was most evident in her dedication to cooking dinners for the Richford Congregational Church. She was a phenomenal cook making her specialties of homemade pizza and perogies often for her family. In her spare time, she could often be found crocheting.
In keeping with Marie’s wishes, she generously participated in the anatomical donation program for SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse to further the education of those entering the medical field. A celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Memories and condolences can be shared in her online guestbook at www.macphersonfh.com. The family is under the caring guidance of the MacPherson Funeral Home in Newark Valley, New York.
