Marilu Weeks, age 78, of Jasper, Georgia peacefully passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born August 7, 1946 to Carlos and Vera Grantham in Douglas, Georgia. Marilu and her family moved to Cherokee County in 1963 where she attended Cherokee High School. In 1964, she was crowned Miss Sequoyah. She then attended Reinhardt College and was crowned Miss Cherokee County. She married Jimmy Weeks and together they opened and operated the Western Auto in Jasper. After that they bought and operated Weeks Jewelry in Jasper for 35 years. Marilu was also a pianist and organist at Jasper United Methodist Church. She was blessed with a beautiful voice.
Marilu is survived by her daughter, Sharmon Weeks of Jasper; grandson, Ethan Albert of Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Donna Grantham of Douglas; and sister-in-law, Vicky Grantham of Macon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jimmy Weeks; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Bud Chambers; brother, Gregory Grantham; and sister, Shirley Webb.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Jasper United Methodist Church in Jasper.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Roper Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Staff of Roper Funeral Home and Crematory.
