Marilyn J. Galambos, age 88 of Morrisville, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Huntingdon Valley Rehabilitation Center, Huntingdon Valley, PA. Preceded in death by her parents, Alexander and Helen (Welsh) Galambos, both of her brothers and sisters in law, Alexander and Marion Galambos, Sr, John and Wanda Galambos, niece, Maria Galambos , nephew, John Galambos and great nephew, Colin Galambos. She was born in Morrisville, PA and attended Manor Park School to grade 4, then transferred to Cathedral Grammar School in Trenton and completed Elementary School. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1953.
Marilyn received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Georgian Court College (now University) and a M.ED from Boston College in MA in Urban Education. She did further studies in Special Education at Trenton State College as a reading specialist and a learning disability teacher/consultant.
Marilyn taught Special Education students in schools in New Jersey, including Mercer County Special Services. She was offered a position in the NJ Dept. of Human Services – Special Education Section which she accepted. Her responsibility was working with supervisors of education in state facilities working with Special Education Students including DYFS and Mental Health and preparing for State Monitoring.
Ms. Galambos then accepted a position in the Juvenile Justice Commission as Supervisor of Education in several facilities from North Jersey to South Jersey.
After thirty one years in State service, she retired.
But not for long….accepting a position at LaSalle University supervising Student Teachers, both in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. This was a rewarding experience to work with young aspiring teachers. After a twelve year run, she really retired.
She had done some photography and now it became a full pleasure. Marilyn took some courses in Vermont and fell in love with the state. Yearly trips (vacation time) were made every October. She visited and photographed every covered bridge over a period of twelve years, not to mention the foliage and mountains.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her Memorial Mass at 11 AM on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 201 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067. Her interment will be held privately in Morrisville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution, in Marilyn’s name, to the Holy Trinity School, 201 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Morrisville, PA 19067
