Marilyn Lou (Markey) Hacker, 70, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday June 28, 2025. She was born in York PA on August 28, 1954, and was the beloved daughter of Darlene (Miller) Preston and the late James Markey Sr. and the loving wife of Dan Hacker.

She is survived by her husband Dan as well as their children Angela B. (Clinton) Tollaksen and her husband Stephen, Travis L. Beaumont, and Valerie S. Hacker and her partner Albert Fisher; her seven grandchildren Chloe Tollaksen, Emma Tollaksen, Kyleigh Beaumont, Gavin Beaumont, Emjae Beaumont, Sarah Fisher and Alex Fisher. She also leaves behind her four younger siblings Teena (Markey) Hoy, Vicki (Markey) McWilliams, Steve Markey, and James Markey Jr. as well as her many wonderful niece and nephews, who affectionately called her Manny, a nickname Marilyn loved.

She also leaves behind some wonderful, caring friends but a special mention to her best friend throughout life, Gayla Jones of Dallastown.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her father and her twin sister Carolyn Sue (Markey) Capatch.

Marilyn was a 1972 graduate of Dallastown Area High School. During her lifetime she had several jobs including working for Amp Incorporated for approximately 10 years and the family roadside markets for many years.

Marilyn was an avid collector, especially fond of her Charming Tails and Stone Critters mouse figurines, as well as her beloved music boxes. She proudly displayed her vintage green dinnerware and was known for her creativity and artistic talents. A gifted crafter, Marilyn enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting, and cross-stitching. She created blankets, handmade dolls and fabric figures-ranging from frogs and scarecrows to Santa Claus and bunnies and also made unique jewelry and magnets. Her beautifully crafted scrapbooks captured countless treasured memories in the most creative way. Christmas gatherings were never complete without Grandma's bingo, a cherished tradition filled with laughter and thoughtful gifts. She will be lovingly remembered for her colorful, delicious sand tarts, a family favorite that brought joy to both those helping her bake them and those eating them.

A funeral service to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held at 2:00 P.M on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc 104 W. Main St, Dallastown with Rev. Kevin Becker officiating. A visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. until the start of the service. Interment will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
