Marilyn Sabol Obituary

Marilyn Jane Sabol (1954–2025)
Marilyn Jane Sabol, 70, of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on October 17, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Jane was born in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, on December 29, 1954, to the Reverend Henry Foster Hamer Jr. and Elizabeth Nuss Hamer. At an early age, she moved to Reading, PA, later to Lykens, PA, and ultimately Philadelphia where she met her future husband, George, at her father's church, Bustleton United Methodist. They attended George Washington High School and Albright College together, where Jane studied Home Economics with a concentration in fabrics and tailoring, and graduated in 1976.
After graduating, Jane worked for The Singer Company from 1976 to 1979, and then for Dannemann Fabrics, (which later became Calico Corners), from 1979 until her retirement in 2014.
Jane and George married in Philadelphia in 1977. Jane designed and tailored her wedding dress, a reflection of the creativity and care that came so naturally to her. After marrying, Jane and George moved to Boston, MA for a brief period, moved to Wilmington, DE in 1979, briefly lived in Orange, TX before settling in Chadds Ford, PA. Together they raised three daughters, Tricia, Caren, and Jennifer. Her children adored her as a mother, and cherished her quiet strength, love, and unwavering support through life.
Jane loved spending time in Ocean City, NJ-especially sitting on the beach and eating Kohr Brother's Frozen Custard on the boardwalk. She enjoyed going to concerts (she loved '60s music, especially the Monkees!), watching I Love Lucy, and decorating the Christmas tree while listening to Mitch Miller's Christmas Album. Her passions included sewing all her children's clothing and Halloween costumes, as well as creating beautiful window treatments and bedspreads. She found joy in her church community, especially the handbell choir, her dogs, playing music while cooking and baking, all things Hollywood, and traveling and cruising with George.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Hamer, and her brother, Ralph Hamer.
She is survived by her husband, George Sabol, her children, Tricia Sabol (Hillary), Caren Sabol (Michael), and Jennifer Munro (Brian), her grandchildren, Margaret Jane and Bailey Elizabeth Munro, and soon-to-be Baby McGoldrick, and her cousin Walter Press (Betsy).
Services will be held on Friday, October 24th at Oxford United Methodist Church, 18 Addison Street, Oxford, Pennsylvania. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM. Funeral service at 10:30 AM. The family invites all to stay for a lunch in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, as you are able and moved, the family requests donations to organizations important to Jane: The Ocean City (NJ) Tabernacle Association Oxford United Methodist Church 18 Addison St, Oxford, PA 19363, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research
