William H. Tobin Jr.

William Henry Tobin, Jr of Wallingford, PA passed away at the age of 99 on October 15, 2025. William ("Bill") was loving husband, devoted father and a humble, obedient and active member of the Roman Catholic faith. He is survived by Mary E. (McMahon) Tobin, his wife of seventy years, formerly of West Roxbury, Massachusetts; five children, John (Marie), William (Suzanne), Michael (Tina), Julie (Thomas) and Paul; 16 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased in death by his grandson, David and his sister Margretta Tobin. Bill was born in Woburn, Massachusetts on June 19, 1926. He served in US NAVY from 1944-1946, seeing action in the Pacific theatre in the Third Carrier Fleet. Bill received a BS and MS in Physics from Boston College. He had a forty-three-year career as an application engineer at General Electric Corporation, at the dawn of the semi-conductor era. Bill then worked for the Silicon Power Corporation and had the opportunity to work with his son Michael prior to retirement, which was a joy for him. Bill enjoyed summers on Cape Cod, reading, sharing his musical gift of the piano with his grandchildren and friends. He was always ready, willing and happy to serve others. Bill's Catholic faith, intimately shared with his wife, Mary, animated all aspects of his life and informed his every thought and action. He was proud and active member of the Third Order of Saint Francis for seventy-four years, professed into the Secular Franciscan order on December 4, 1951. He was an active member of the Nativity BVM Catholic Parish and before that Saint John Chrysostom Parish, in Wallingford. Visitation on Friday 10/24/2025 from 9:30-10:30 at J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home, 1 W. Baltimore Avenue, Media PA and Funeral Mass at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, Media PA, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, one of his favorite charities.
