Marilyn Jean Suchomel, 93, of West Branch, Iowa, and formerly of Loveland, Colorado, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home in Tipton, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Branch, with funeral services immediately following at 11:00 A.M. Burial will take place at St. Bridget's Cemetery, rural Solon, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Cedar Manor in Tipton. Condolences may be sent to: 111 Pheasant Run, West Branch, Iowa 52358.
Marilyn was born on August 21, 1931, to Harley and Lillian (Speight) Anderson. She graduated from West Branch High School. On August 24, 1950, she was united in marriage Maynard Suchomel in Solon, Iowa.
In 1956, Marilyn and Maynard moved to Loveland, Colorado, where they owned and operated The Outdoor Shop and later started Mountain Ski Rental, retiring in 1996. Following their retirement, Marilyn enjoyed helping Maynard with his garden and spent many hours canning their harvests. She also loved traveling, with highlights including a trip to Alaska and frequent visits to Iowa to see family and friends. Loveland remained a special place in her heart, filled with cherished memories with neighbors and friends.
After Maynard's passing in 2017, Marilyn returned to Iowa to be closer to her family.
She is survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Maynard; and three siblings: Dorothy Anderson Schiele, Richard Anderson, and Hubert Anderson.
