Mario Carroccia, 88 of Plainville, beloved husband, father and nonno passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Thursday, November 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Olinda (Quinto) Carroccia for 63 years.
Mario was born on July 15, 1936 in Lenola, Latina, Italy son to the late Candido and Assunta (Pannone) Carroccia. Mario took great pride in his Italian heritage and was deeply involved in the Cittadina Lenolesi Club of Farmington, where he honorably served as President for many years in addition to his involvement with the Italian Political Club of Berlin, enjoying the game of Bocci while developing valued friendships along the way. A true Italian, he was renowned for the artistry of wine-making.
He dedicated many years of his career to New Britain Machine as a skilled tool and part machinist, where his craftsmanship and work ethic were highly respected. He was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his commitment to excellence in his trade.
Mario's passion for gardening was evident in his beautifully tended master garden, where he sourced hundreds of fresh tomatoes each summer. He took immense pride in his bountiful harvests that delighted family and friends alike. Mario was a man of simple pleasures and his favorite moments were spent surrounded by an abundance of food and the laughter of his family. He cherished the time spent at the dinner table, where he nurtured not only his loved ones but also the bonds that held them all together. His spirit and zest for life were felt by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his wife, Olinda, Mario is survived by his daughter, Palma Carroccia, of Plainville, his daughter-in-law, Donna Carroccia, of Plainville, his grandson, Kevin Carroccia and his wife, Donna, and their son, Grayson Carroccia, of Farmington, his granddaughter, Kristen DeLucia and her husband, Jeffrey, of Colchester, and several extended family members. He was predeceased by his son, Dr. Candito Carroccia.
Mario's family extends their sincerest appreciation to his caregivers, Lissette Maldonado, Denise Gonzales, and Chantel Evans, for their kindness and compassion.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 4 to 6 PM and on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 9 to 10:30 AM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville.
