Mario Giacobello

Mario Giacobello, 87, of Erie, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 in his home surrounded by family. He was born June 1, 1935 in Erie to the late Joseph and Nataline Giacobello.
Mario was a graduate of Cathedral Prep, Class of 1952 and was well known in the Erie community as owner of South Erie Tire Company. Mario enjoyed golfing and excelled in duckpin bowling at the Erie Mannerchor Club, where his outstanding abilities were recognized in multiple tournaments and trophies over the years. An avid card player, he enjoyed gambling and the excitement of competing and winning a game.
Mario loved music. A skilled accordionist and vocalist with an energetic and upbeat style, he played in many clubs and weddings, where the sound of his voice always brought the crowd to the dance floor. Later in life, he entertained residents living in nursing homes playing his accordion music.
Above all, he was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren during gatherings that involved card playing, games, and often lively musical entertainment that he loved to provide.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Margaret Giacobello; daughters Joy Galvin (Regis), Janelle Fenoglietto (David), Jill Guianen (Ron), Jackie Nicolia (Carl), and sons, Joe Giacobello and John Giacobello. Proud Grandfather to Charles Figurski (Kaitlynn), Beth Mindala (Rochelle), Jamie Pietras, Kara Fenoglietto, Jason Guianen, Brittany Guianen, Teresa Nicolia Sadler (Matt), Tina Nicolia Opp (Andrew), Mario Nicolia (Kristin) and seven great grandchildren.
Mario is preceded in death by a sister, Mary Grace Lattanzi and a granddaughter Kristy Campbell.
Special thanks to the hospice nurse Kat and the Interim Healthcare hospice team who gave Mario such wonderful care.
