Marion G. Galvin, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 9th at Wingate at Silver Lake in Kingston, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication. Born on October 31, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the cherished daughter of the late Daniel and Marion (Uhrig) Galvin.
Marion's academic journey was marked by her unwavering commitment to education and service. A proud graduate of Mission Hill High School and Boston City Hospital School of Nursing., she furthered her studies at University of Massachusetts, earning Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Boston University earning her Master's Degree in Education. Her passion for helping others led her to become a Registered Nurse, specializing as a Psychiatric Nurse in various area hospitals, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and expertise.
In 2006, Marion made her home in the Plymouth-Duxbury area, having previously resided in Charlestown. She embraced her new community with warmth and grace, forming lasting friendships and connections.
Marion was predeceased by her beloved sister, Ellen McParlin of Hanson, and her aunt Sister Helen Galvin, SSND. She is survived by numerous cousins, including Ann and Charles Wyman of Duxbury, Linda Wyman of Hanson and her and her cherished godchildren, Jessica Wyman Gustafson and John Kemmett, who will carry her memory in their hearts.
In accordance with Marion's wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered at sea, a final tribute to her love for the ocean and the serenity it brings.
Marion G. Galvin will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her dedication to her profession, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. Her legacy of compassion and service will continue to inspire those who knew her. Arrangements are entrusted to Cartmell-Davis Life Celebration Funeral Homes in Plymouth.
