The following is an obituary written by Marion's loving family.
Marion Earl Pritchett, age 82, affectionately nicknamed “Luke” by his beloved mother on his first day of college, went home to Heaven on Saturday morning, December 6, 2025, while living in Plymouth, Indiana.
He is survived by his daughter, Kara (Terry) Milbrath (Plymouth); sister, Arlene Pritchett (Danville); grandsons, Ted Gransbury (Indianapolis) and Rob Gransbury (Florence, KY), and many extended family members in this area.
His father and mother, Carl and Beryl (Kersey) Pritchett, preceded him in death, as did his daughter, Jenny Pritchett, shortly after her premature birth.
Marion was an alumnus of Purdue University, 1961-1965, and of University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, graduating in 1967 with his Masters of Science Agronomy. Marion was a loyal and true fan of everything Purdue and could sing their official and iconic fight song “Hail Purdue” anytime, anywhere, to anyone, while standing at attention. Traveling was his favorite activity, and he had an almost photographic memory of every road he’s ever driven, including fond memories of barns he admired and soils he studied. Truly he was more at home on the road than at any address. May his soul travel eternally.
Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Arlene Pritchett Eel River Township Fund, Hendricks County Community Foundation, 63195 E. US Highway 36, Avon, IN 46123, or to the charity of Donor’s choice.
Services will be held at 3pm, Friday, December 19, 2025, in Eric MD Bell Funeral Home of Pittsboro, Indiana, where friends are invited to gather with the family from 1pm, until the time of the service. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the Fariview Cemetery, North Salem, Indiana.
All are encouraged to share thoughts, prayers, and memories with Marion's family on his memorial page found on the funeral home's website, www.ericmdbellfuneralhome.com .
