Marjorie Arnsman Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 11, 2025.
Marjorie Lou "Marge" Arnsman (Foglesong), Age 93, of DeWitt, Michigan, entered eternal rest on August 10, 2025, surrounded by her family during her final days after courageously battling breast cancer and Alzheimer's.

Marge will be remembered as a kind and compassionate person who touched the lives of everyone she met. Though naturally introverted, her thoughtful nature and gentle spirit shone brightly. She was deeply devoted to her family and cherished the simple joys of life.

Marge was born on January 12, 1932, in Alma, Michigan and grew up on her family's farm. She graduated from Alma High School in the early 1950's, becoming the first in her family at the time to earn a high school diploma. She then began her career as a secretary at REO Motors before advancing to a position with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) as a Departmental Executive after excelling on a professional exam. In her role, she managed federal funds for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Marge retired in 1984 after 30 years of dedicated service.

Marge was first married to Marshall Davey, with whom she had her children Mark and Marcy. While working at the DNR, she later met her second husband, John Arnsman. They were married for over 40 years, sharing a life of love and partnership. Together, they lovingly raised their grandchildren, Stephanie and Michelle, providing a stable and nurturing home filled with love and care.

Marge enjoyed ceramics, bowling, golf, and attending exercise classes, but her greatest joy came from time spent with her family. She was an active member of her church and participated in the "Grandparent's Club," a support group for grandparents raising their grandchildren. Marge especially treasured summers at the family cottage in Evart, where laughter and cherished memories were made.

Marge is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; her son, Mark (Bonnie) Davey; her siblings, Vivian Sain, Robert Foglesong, Bert Foglesong and Donald Foglesong; and her parents, Robert and Mary Foglesong.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia VanBuren; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Davey; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Ryan) Gray, Michelle Delaney, Tyler (Ali) VanBuren, Aaron Davis, and Kate Davis; stepchild, Sarah (Adam) Davis; her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Foglesong; and her great-grandchildren, Rory, Emmett, Lochlan, and Paisley Lou Gray, who was lovingly named after her. Marge also leaves behind her best friend, Pat, and many other dear friends who enriched her life.

Marge's family extends heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and cared for her throughout her life. A celebration of Marge's life will be held on August 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Salt River Cemetery in Shepherd, Michigan with a graveside service. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Foundation, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
