Marjorie (Fultz) Batten, a beloved mother and cherished member of the Germantown community passed away on Monday, September 1st. The daughter of Nora (Bryant) Fultz, she was born in Hurst, Kentucky. After graduating from Vandalia Butler Public Schools, she attended Miami University where she earned her BS and MS degrees in Education. Marjorie taught at Germantown Elementary for 27 years. She loved teaching and would share stories of this child or this lesson long after retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Red Hatters and The Germantown Historical Society. Marjorie also enjoyed preparing taxes, working in her flower gardens, traveling and being a part of the Germantown and Miamisburg Senior Centers where she played lots of Bridge and made many friends. Antiques were a big part of her life. She and her husband Robert had several shops (The Stump House and The Florentine) during Germantown's big antique boom. She also liked her trips to "gambling camp" and watching lots and lots of tennis.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert of 55 years; her sister Lois Spiggle; nieces Patricia (Curtis) Collins, Diana Currier and Brenda (Batten) Piatka; nephew Daniel Swartz; and very good friends Marilyn Cors, Marie Pence and Dolores and Brian Broadstone.
She is survived by two sons, Rex (Judy) Batten of Miamisburg and Mike Batten of Germantown and daughter, Lisa Batten of Germantown; sister, Nancy Curtis; and friends, Gail Boomershine and June Deaton.
A Graveside Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Germantown Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Farmer in the Deli, 16 W. Center St., Germantown, OH 45327 ~ for their free summer lunch program.
