With great sadness, we announce the passing of Mark Stephen Bruso at the age of 56. Mark passed away on February 15, 2025. Born on May 28, 1968, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Mark was full of love, laughter, and resilience, touching the lives of all who knew him. A man of unwavering integrity and commitment, Mark was a true warrior who dedicated over 34 years of his life to protecting and serving others. Mark was a retired Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), where he served with honor for more than two decades, in addition to 12 years as a local police officer.
Mark's career was defined by his courage, leadership, and willingness to mentor others. Throughout his tenure, he worked in the Los Angeles, CA Field Division and the Special Operations Division (SOD). He also completed a tour as a Staff Instructor at the DEA Training Academy, served as an operator and instructor for DEA's Tactical Team at Quantico, and a member of the Miami Special Response Team (SRT). Mark took great pride in training new DEA recruits, active-duty field agents, and members of foreign law enforcement agencies, shaping the next generation of those who fight to keep communities safe. Mark held a Bachelor of Science degree from Springfield College and a Master of Science degree from Anna Maria College.
While Mark's dedication to law enforcement was a defining part of his life, his greatest joy was his family. Mark was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother, always putting his loved ones first. Whether traveling with his wife, cheering on his children in their endeavors, offering wisdom and guidance, or simply sharing a laugh, Mark's love and devotion to his family knew no bounds. Mark leaves behind his beloved wife, Melisa Bruso; children, Ryan and Caroline Bruso, Madison and Mason Medina; his father, Jack Bruso; his brother, Mike Bruso; and his DEA brothers, who became family to him. He was predeceased by his mother, Carol A. (Demars) Bruso. Mark's legacy of love, strength, honor and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
To commemorate his incredible life and celebrate the love he shared, family and friends are cordially invited to attend his graveside service at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton, on Mark's birthday, May 28, 2025, at 11 a.m. We invite all who knew him to join us in honoring his memory.
