Mark Anthony McGinnis, 66, of rural Hardin, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mark was born on October 25, 1958, the son of Charles Edward and Geraldine (Fauver) McGinnis. He was united in marriage to Iva Denise Martin of Richmond on September 22, 1984; she survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one Son, Shane (Courtney) McGinnis of Richmond, two daughters, Sondra Frame of Marshall, Shellie (Tommie) Martin of Richmond; 16 grandchildren, Ashlyn, Nichole, Tylor, Preston, Kaylen, Kinley, Luke, Mason, Layton, Zayleigh, Tommie, Waylon, Ellie, Mia, Aiden and Nevaeh; three sisters, Carolyn McGinnis of Richmond, Connie Woessner of Hardin and Gayle Kinnard of Richmond; sister-in-law, Carrolkay; other extended family members and many friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Francis, William, Larry, David, Michael and James, and one sister Vicki Roberts
Mark was raised and educated in several Missouri towns, including St. Joseph and Hamilton, before graduating with the Class of 1978 from Hardin-Central High School. He worked as a painter, both independently and alongside several area professionals, and was known for his strong work ethic and skillful craftsmanship. Affectionately known as "Uncle Mark" to many, he was a devoted family man-someone who made everyone feel like family.
For years, Mark operated a vegetable stand and became fondly known around town as "the vegetable man." He was a familiar face at the corner across from the 10-13 Diner, always ready with a smile and wave for anyone passing by. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He was especially proud of his champion beagles, Red and Ruby, who often joined him on his outdoor adventures.
Mark will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
The family suggests memorial contribution be made to the Mark Anthony McGinnis Memorial Fund. Memorials can be mailed or dropped off to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main St., P.O. Box 190, Richmond, 64085.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Richmond City Hall, 205 Summit Street, beginning at 1:00 P.M. Thurman Funeral of Richmond is in charge of arrangements. Please remember so share your memories of Mark with the Family by visiting wwwthurmanfuneralhome.com.
