Mark Allan Osevala, 70, of
Camp Hill, Pennsylvania passed away on July 16, 2025. The son of Barney and Jean (Cook) Osevala, Mark was born on December 25, 1954 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Mark spent his early life in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, where he graduated from Lower Dauphin High School in 1973. A talented high school athlete, Mark played college lacrosse at Lebanon Valley College prior to transferring to Penn State University, where he graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science.
Following college, Mark pursued a career in medicine and graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1985. After completing his General Surgery Residency, Mark then completed a board-certified Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Mark spent the latter half of his career practicing in Pennsylvania, serving as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon in the Camp Hill, Harrisburg, and Williamsport areas. As a surgeon, Mark was known for his compassionate and humble bedside manner and his deep dedication to his patients and their families. Affectionately known as "Dr. O" to both his patients and colleagues, Mark found great purpose and fulfillment in his 40-year career as a physician.
While Mark's career brought him immense pride, he viewed his family as his greatest accomplishment. Mark was married to his loving wife, Deborah, for 47 years. Mark and Debbie were made for each other, having met in second grade and being the love of each other's lives since the eighth grade. Together, they raised three children, Alex (Adriana) of
Camp Hill, Pennsylvania; Nick (Eleanor) of Asheville, North Carolina; and Katherine (Sam) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mark was an exceptional and loving father, a person his children truly admired. Even though his career was demanding, Mark was an ever-present father. Particularly, Mark enjoyed watching his sons play football and his daughter play soccer and cheerlead for Camp Hill High School. As their children grew older, Mark and Debbie provided unconditional support to each of their children in pursuit of their careers and goals. Above all, Mark's greatest joy was watching his children find happiness and purpose, and he was truly content knowing that Alex, Nick, and Katherine have loving families and support systems of their own.
In addition to his wife and children, Mark is survived by his sister, Bonnie Newhouse of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; his brother, BJ (Jill) Osevala of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania; his brother-in-law, Bill (Sherry) Aldinger of Tallahassee, Florida; his three grandchildren (Benji, Bo, and Gabby); and one niece and three nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Benjamin and Lillian (Hixon) Aldinger.
Services to honor Mark will be held privately. For anyone wishing to do so, the family asks that memorial contributions to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank (3908 Corey Road, Harrisburg, PA 17109 or 3301 Wahoo Drive, Williamsport, PA 17701) be made in Mark's honor. The family also requests that, for those who are able, a donation of blood be made to any blood bank in Mark's name.
The world will not be the same without Mark, but his family takes comfort in knowing it was made better because of him.
