RICHMOND IN.- Marlene K. Bertsch, age 75, passed Thursday, November 28, 2024, surrounded by her family at Reid Hospital. Marlene was born February 21, 1949, in Richmond, IN, to the late Everette and Lucy Lloyd Bettenbroke. When Marlene was in kindergarten, the family moved to Cambridge City, IN, where Marlene would become a 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School. In 1969 she married her high school sweetheart Clarence and the couple moved back to Richmond. Marlene was very involved in volunteering for many community organizations, and the one she loved dearly was the Richmond Rose Festival. She would often talk of the fun and the many friends she made through out her time on the committee and board. Marlene was also a part of the Richmond Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Chapter for several years where she was able to continue her volunteering and her love of scrapbooking. If anyone really knew Marlene you knew she was always taking pictures. Marlene would say that her greatest joy was her daughter and her grandchildren. She was most happy surrounded by her family. She loved traveling to her favorite places. She would talk fondly and often of her trips to Colorado to the mountains and her yearly nieces trip to Tennessee. Her trip to Disney with her grandchildren was one of her favorites. Marlene is survived by her daughter Tamara (Bertsch) Cornell, her grandchildren, Lennon and Isabella Cornell; and several nephews, nieces, & great nephews and nieces. Marlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clarence W. Bertsch, her Father and Mother, her sons; Clarence Wayne and Jeffrey and her brother Michael Bettenbroke. The family wishes to thank the Springs of Richmond for the exceptional care of Marlene for the past 2 years.
