Marlene Cabiran Connetti, of Pearl River, Louisiana, passed away on January 14, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on August 2, 1938, to the late Bernice Ruh Cabiran and Edmund John Cabiran Sr., Marlene's life was a testament to her enduring faith and the love she shared with those around her.
Marlene is the beloved wife of the late Arlen Charles Connetti, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage until his passing. Together, they raised two children, Arlene Connetti Jones (Claude Jr.) and the late Edmund Charles Connetti (Kandi). Marlene's joy multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren, Claude Joseph Jones III (Jenny), Christopher Arlen Jones (Lark), and Patrice Marie Connetti, as well as her five great-grandchildren, Kaeley Amy Burlett, Owen Christopher Jones, Macie Ann Jones, Ada Laurel Jones, and Jack Wilkin Jones. Marlene is also survived by a host of extended family members and friends, all of whom she loved greatly. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Edmund Cabiran Jr. and Henry Cabiran.
Marlene graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School with the Class of 1956. Her early involvement with the Civil Air Patrol during her high school years showcased her adventurous spirit and her willingness to serve. Marlene's professional journey included employment at South Central Bell and Frank Silva & Sons, where she was known for her diligent work ethic and her amiable nature. Her most cherished roles were being a wife, mother, and grandmother.
Marlene's interests were as colorful as her personality. She was a talented artist who found joy in coloring and painting, activities that reflected her creative spirit. Her competitive side shone through in her participation in CYO volleyball, being a member of a bowling league and a member of the Arabi Cootie Club. Marlene's love for music was evident from her childhood days in dancing school, to her graceful movements on the dance floor, but one often saw her rhythm and movement in and around the kitchen.
As we remember Marlene, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey complete, and a soul that has undoubtedly left a lasting impression on her family and friends. Her spirit, like the gardens she tended so carefully on her family's farm, will continue to bloom in the hearts of those she loved.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Audubon Funeral Home in Slidell.
