Obituary published on Legacy.com by Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Plymouth on Dec. 23, 2023.
Marlene (Mar) Schuh, was born on June 25th, 1938 and died on December 20, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Schuh, and leaves behind countless loved ones who will miss her very much.
Granny was well-known in her community as one of the founding members of Good Shepherd Church in
Plymouth, Wisconsin and the longest seasonal at Plymouth Rock Camping Resort.
She worked at Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, but took up driving school bus so she could be home to take care of Dick. She devoted most of her life and lifestyle in pursuit of health and wellness for the benefit of him.
Granny worked as a bus driver for many years, and we believe she is the only person to ever drive a big yellow school bus on the track at Road America in Elkhart Lake. She was also incredibly proud of her well-documented ability to parallel park her bus.
Additionally, Granny worked in the offices at Plymouth Rock for over 32 years. She was always accompanied by Dick, who acted as the unofficial greeter and ambassador for the campground. The campground became a way for our whole family to be able to be together. While we are unable to confirm, it has been theorized that the Wal-Mart greeter role was inspired by him. (insert a Mar side-eye ) Later in life, Granny would follow in Dick's footsteps and be a greeter and fixture at Good Shepherd.
Granny enjoyed and came to rely on the wonderful community she created at Good Shepherd. You could always find her in the third pew on the left - unless it was snowing.
Granny wasn't one to sit still. She would try and help wherever she could, including rolling silverware for her team at Fudgie's. The folks there became her extended family over the years and always welcomed her. In return, she offered her services as a walking billboard by wearing her Fudgie's hat everywhere. Except church.
She had the very best neighbors a gal could have asked for. From keeping her company, to running errands, to taking care of her when she was too stubborn to ask for help. She appreciated all of you, and your contributions helped her stay in the home she loved as long as she could.
Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren extend our sincerest gratitude to all of you that made up her village.
Granny was a unique lady that took so much pride in the accomplishments of her family, as evidenced by the photos of us on every wall of her home. She was always surrounded by her loved ones in spirit, even when we couldn't be there in person.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 2:00PM for a visitation and church service at Good Shepherd Evangelical Church (N5990 Country Aire Rd,
Plymouth, WI 53073). The service will be followed by a celebration of life with light snacks at her favorite local watering hole, Fudgieknuckles (133 W Main St, Glenbeulah, WI 53023) at 4:00PM.
Due to the timing of Granny's passing and so many of her friends and extended family being out of state, the family will also host a party this summer at Plymouth Rock. Details to come on that event.
