Marlin Keith “Buck” Ladner, age 71, of Saucier, passed away on July 3, 2025.

Born in Gulfport to Herman and Eunice Cuevas Ladner, Marlin was a lifelong welder known for his love of hunting, fishing, and cooking chicken on his homemade grill. He brought humor and sarcasm to every conversation — if you asked what he was up to or what he was doing, his classic response was, “Going to Hawaii.”

Though known for his good intentions, Buck had a reputation for unintentionally wrecking whatever he rode or tried to fix — especially lawn mowers — leaving behind many scarred trees and countless stories. His lack of patience may have contributed, but it was all part of his unique charm. He once famously bagged a year’s limit of deer in one setting, allowing himself free time the rest of hunting season.

Marlin was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Dustin and Anthony Craven; great-grandchildren, Hagan and Tucker Craven; and siblings, Billy Wayne Ladner and Mary Alice Hilton.

He is survived by his loving wife, Eugenia Ladner; children, Heath Ladner (Catrina), Dexter Ladner (Ashley), Marlin “Dinky” Ladner, Jr. (Lauri), Tammy Cuevas (Keith), and Cheri Glidwell (Gary); siblings, Eddie Ladner, Craig Ladner, Sheila Bradley, and Karen Bachtel; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Refuge Baptist Church, located at the corner of Hwy 603 and Rocky Hill Dedeaux Road. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Necaise Crossing Cemetery.
