Marlon Dwayne Fobbs was born on December 26, 1971, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. From a young age, Marlon's life was rooted in faith-he accepted Christ early and was baptized at St. John Holiness C.O.G.I.C., where he began his spiritual journey.
Affectionately known by friends and loved ones as "Funky Fobbs," Marlon was a man of vibrant spirit, deep loyalty, and unwavering kindness. His infectious smile and magnetic personality brought joy to all who knew him.
Marlon began his professional journey as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service. Guided by his passion for building, he transitioned into a successful career in home construction, working as a skilled subcontractor. For the past three years, he was employed at the Golden Nugget Casino in Lake Charles, where he was respected for his hard work and dedication.
His journey in life led to holy matrimony in March 1995 to Kiecha Villery, with whom he shared 23 years of marriage. Together, they welcomed two daughters, Jada and Jazmine, who became the center of Marlon's world.
A devoted grandfather, Marlon was rarely seen without his cherished grandson, Jaiden-lovingly known as "Pop"-by his side. Their bond was deep, unshakable, and admired by all who witnessed it.
Marlon had an unmatched love for football, especially for his beloved San Francisco 49ers. Whether dressed head-to-toe in 49ers gear or cheering from the couch on Sundays, he brought energy and passion to every game. His enthusiastic chant, "BANG-BANG NINER GANG!", echoed throughout the house-win or lose-until the final whistle.
On Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 5:02 a.m., Marlon peacefully gained his wings and entered eternal rest in his hometown of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Though his absence leaves a void in our hearts, we rejoice in knowing he is now at peace with the Lord.
Marlon was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Fobbs; his mother, Betty Lee-Fobbs; maternal grandparents, Savanah Lee and Freddie Lee; paternal grandparents, Joseph Fobbs and Idell Cook-Fobbs; niece, Kena Marie Senegal; and brother-in-law, Michael Senegal.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving siblings: Clayton Quinn (Theorlyn) Fobbs, Tanya Fobbs-Senegal, and Yolanda (Allen) Fobbs-Manuel; his daughters, Jada Fobbs and Jazmine Fobbs; and his beloved grandchildren: Jaiden, Journee, Jace, Jersee, and Sevyn. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends who will continue to honor his legacy with love and remembrance.
