It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marquis LeVille Cobb, who left this world unexpectedly on January 15, 2025. Marquis was born on May 10, 1992, in Cleveland, TN, to Charles "Chucky" and Tina Cobb. Marquis came into this world with a big personality and a playful sense of humor. He developed a quick wit at a young age, loved to tell jokes, and make everyone laugh. Marquis had the ability to keep everyone entertained, easily living up to his nickname, "Goober", a name given by his father and affectionately used by his family.
An incredibly talented athlete, Marquis took to sports at an early age, playing in youth recreational leagues at Northeast Recreation Center and excelling in football and basketball at Walker Valley High School. He was admired by coaches, teammates, and peers alike for his skill on the field and court. While Marquis truly enjoyed sports and bringing joy through his humor, his love for family was what he was most proud of. Marquis loved hard-his family, his friends, but most of all his daughters, Marre and Xio.
Marquis is preceded in death by loved ones who welcomed him home with open arms: his mother, Tina Smith Cobb; maternal grandparents Barbara Jean and James Smith; and paternal grandparents Blanche and Milas Cobb. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.
He is survived by his father, Charles "Chucky" Cobb; his beautiful daughters, Marreona Carpenter and Xiomara Villanueva; his big sister, Cantra Cobb; aunts, Marsha Cobb, Melanie Smith, and Sherry Smith; uncles, Freddy (Betty) Pitner and Patrick Smith; special uncle, Terry Ware of Indianapolis, IN; special cousins, Kenyatta Cobb, Toya (Charles) Moore, and James Smith; and best friend since childhood, Tyquise Dodd.
Whether you knew him as Goober, Gravity, or Quis, take solace in the fact that his memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Though he is absent in the physical, his spirit is eternal.
Rest in Peace and Love, Goober.
