Marrlee Joan Airey, 86, of Albion, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Funeral services for Marrlee will be held on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Marrlee Martin was born on November 18, 1938 in Marshalltown. She was the daughter of Wilford "Pokey" and Dorothy Martin. Marrlee graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1956. On November 25, 1956, she was united in marriage to Lyle Airey. Marrlee had worked for the Marshalltown Hospital as a secretary, retiring in 2000. She belonged in numerous camping clubs, Lions Club and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Marrlee enjoyed watching television, especially the Gameshow Network and loved gardening and camping. She also enjoyed the twenty plus years that she and Lyle volunteered at the Iowa State Fair, running golf carts or in the ticket booth.
Marrlee is survived by her husband of 68 years, Lyle. Children: Kris DeFrance of Marshalltown and Steve (Tammy) Airey of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Brittany (Josh Saunders) DeFrance, Katie (Levi Duden) Airey, Katy Weese and Colton Weese. Great-grandchildren: Trent Saunders and Bodie Brackett. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Ray (Kathy) Airey, Terry (Anna) Martin and Denise (Randy) Gibbins.
Marrlee is preceded in death by her parents: Wilford and Dorothy; step-father: Ersel Pickens; siblings: Gene Martin and Shirley Price and nephews: Jerry Martin and Greg Price.
