Martha Christine Brown, aged 80, of Hillsdale, MI, passed away in her home on October 15, 2025. Christine was born on April 27, 1945, to Daniel and Mildred Forrester and grew up in LaFontaine, Indiana with her brothers Daniel (Sally) and Rick (Marcia). She graduated from Huntington College and went on to teach elementary school at Berean Baptist and Montpelier Schools as well as New Hope Christian School and Camden-Frontier Schools.
Christine was a devoted mother to Larry (Erica) Brown, Lori (Corey) Masters, and Aaron (Cindy) Brown. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Bailey, Isaiah (An), Emmaline (Joe), Ryan (Molly), Katie (Ben), Elijah, Lilly, Travis, Virginia (Spencer), and Joelle (Nathan). Christine enjoyed going to their games, watching them in plays, attending and dancing at their weddings, and cuddling her 7 great grandchildren whenever she could. She was looking forward to the arrival of great-grand baby #8 this December. Spending time with her brothers, nieces, nephews and their families was also a joy of Christine's. A game of Yahtzee, and walks with her family are fond memories for many who loved her.
Christine enjoyed playing cards with friends. She was often found attending Hillsdale College basketball and volleyball games with her husband, Gerald Shaner. Christine is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Cleveland and Daniel, grandson Luke, daughter-in-law Erica, and niece Laurie. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18 at Osborne Cemetery in Amboy Township at 11:00 am. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hampton Funeral Homes in Hillsdale, Michigan.
