Ruth M. Gittings, 73, passed away on September 11, 2025. She was born on June 4, 1952, to the late William J. Richardson Jr. and Olive Elizabeth Richardson (Sager).
She was preceded in passing by her parents William Richardson Jr. and Olive Richardson; brothers, Marvin and Paul Richardson; nephew, Jeremy Richardson.
She is survived by her husband Floyd Gittings of 55 years; children, Joseph (Tonya) Gittings, David Gittings; grandchildren, Kamryn Gittings, Vincent Gittings, Ethan Gittings, and Makyla Peters; brother, Neal Richardson.
Ruth lived a full life marked by her passions and many talents. She enjoyed quilting and sewing and was a seasoned deer hunter. She loved to cook and bake, especially around the holidays. She cherished time spent with her family, where her sense of humor and loving nature would surround the home especially during family get-togethers. Among her specialties were canned goods – strawberry jam, beets, and peaches. For over 30 years, Ruth faithfully attended Hillsdale Free Methodist Church. One of her best and favorite qualities was helping people and she did so through church. One of her greatest joys was being a grandmother, sharing her great sense of humor. Ruth will be remembered for her giving heart, laughter, and the many ways she made life brighter for those around her.
Ruth's family will receive friends and family at the Hampton Funeral Home in Hillsdale on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 5-8pm and on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm.
