Martha Dolores Hills, 88, of Kansas City, KS formerly of Wichita, KS Passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at the Evergreen Living Community in Olathe, KS. Private Family Graveside services will be at Memorial Sunset Gardens in Kansas City, KS. Public Memorial services are pending.

Dolores was born on November 25, 1936 in Kansas City, KS to John Coyle and Margaret Memmer Coyle. She attended Paseo High School in Kansas City and graduated in 1954. She proudly received a four-year scholarship to a college of her choice from Ford Motor Company where her father worked. Dolores attended Northwestern in Evanston, IL, getting a Bachelor's of Science in Journalism in 1958 and a Master's degree in Journalism in 1959. She joined the Delta Zeta Sorority at this time, of which she was a life-long member. Dolores returned to Kansas City in 1959 and began work for GP Magazine, during which time she was very involved in the Theta Sigma Phi Journalism Organization. In 1964, while at a church social, Dolores met the love of her life, Arthur, "Art" Hills. They married in 1966 and began a life together in Wichita, KS where she wrote for the Wichita Eagle and Beacon for a few years until their daughter Susan was born. When a neighbor lost his hearing at age five she learned sign language and later became an interpreter for hearing impaired students at Wichita Southeast High School for 12 years. Dolores's favorite "job" was that of mother and grandmother. She volunteered for every field trip, band booster activity, and drove Susan to countless rehearsals. She loved taking her grandchildren to the zoo during their special visits. Dolores was an active Girl Scout leader for many years and volunteered to help children with their reading at both Riverside Elementary in Wichita and at her church, Grace Presbyterian. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Coyle and her husband Arthur Hills. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Richard) Vaughn of Bonner Springs, KS, and her grandchildren Aaron and Abby Vaughn, Bonner Springs, KS. In lieu of flowers, please send a memorial to Evergreen Hospice or Wichita Public Libraries (Children's Section).
