Martha Faye "Marty" Pippin

Martha "Marty" F. Pippin, 80, of Petersburg, Illinois, formerly of Greenview, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2025, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg. She was born February 20, 1945, in Jacksonville, Illinois, to Russell and Grace (nèe Johnson) Hovey. She married David W. Pippin on December 21, 1963, in Stanford, Illinois. In her working years, Marty was a hairstylist and nail technician. She also worked for Franklin Life for many years. She enjoyed going fishing and cross stitching in her free time. She loved antiques and furnished her home with all the antiques that she had collected over the years. She also loved her two dogs, Charlie and Tucker. Marty is survived by her two sons, James Pippin and Jeffrey Pippin; a sister, Kay (husband Larry) Price; a sister-in-law, Janey Hovey; a brother-in-law, John Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Marty was preceded in death by her husband, David W. Pippin, who was killed on February 14, 1968, in the Philippines while serving in the Vietnam War. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings, Virginia Edwards, Rheta Smith, Joyce Crawford and Roger Hovey. Cremation rites were accorded. Marty's family will lay her cremated remains to rest at a later date. Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg is assisting Marty's family with final arrangements.
