Martin “Joe” Lee, 87, of Fremont, OH passed away on September 26, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on August 14, 1938 in Lambert, MS the son of Curtis and Adele (Strong) Lee. Joe married Annie Jennie Davis on December 13, 1958 in Fremont, OH and she preceded him in death on April 14, 2018.
Joe worked at the Fremont Foundry, Fostoria Foundry, the Tank plant in Lima until he retired. He also worked part time at American Auto Sales for many years. He was an active member at Great St. James Church of God in Christ where he was an usher, deacon and helped with many projects over the years. Joe enjoyed traveling and truly loved to help people.
Joe is survived by his children, Ular C. Davis, Fremont, Darren Lee, Fremont, Roger Lee (Yolanda) Bailey, Columbus, Tony Sims, Fremont, Kelly (Ray) Wilkes, Waverly, OH; sisters, Clover Bell Liggins, Fremont, grandchildren, Marcus, Avery, Jarel, Devin, Breanna, Tyler, Autumn, Colton, Brandon, Ebony, Leslie, Belinda, Deangelo, Tyrone, Shanice, Latrice, Zana, Brandyce and Kayden and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and the City of Fremont’s kids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annie Lee; children, Nettie Lee Brown, Curtis “La-Mar” Lee, siblings, Alice Gunn, Adele Bowling, Floyd Lee, Curtis Lee, Frank Lee, Jr., Lodi Lee, Frances Jackson.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Funeral service will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025; 11:00 a.m. at The Church on 53, 1105 CR 41, Fremont, OH with an hour of visitation prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
Memorials can be made in Joe’s honor to the family c/o Darren Lee.
