Martina Louise "Marty" Boyd

Martina "Marty" Louise (Schmitz) Hoffman-Boyd, 96, of Jefferson City, Missouri, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Stonebridge Villa Marie, with her family by her side. She was born on August 20, 1926 in Loose Creek, Missouri; the eldest of five children to the late Hubert Peter and Johanna Regina (Dudenhoeffer) Schmitz. She was united in marriage to Michael William Hoffman Sr. in 1949, in Freeburg, Missouri, and of their union 6 children were born; he preceded her in death in 1966. She was married to Gene Boyd in 1974 until his passing in 1992.
Marty attended schools in Loose Creek as well as Chamois. At the age of 14, she began working at the Governor Hotel as an elevator operator. When Marty was 16, she started working for International Shoe Factory where she put in 25 plus years. Following the shoe factory, she worked for the State of Missouri for a handful of years, and ended her working career managing various gift stores until her retirement at the age of 90.
Marty was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed her collectibles, ceramics, crocheting, and macrame. She had a huge heart for animals and a great sense of humor. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. She will be deeply missed by those who love her.
She is survived by her children, Michael W. (Donna) Hoffman Jr., James (Kim) Hoffman, David (Traci) Hoffman, Steve Hoffman, and Debbie (Mike) Duncan; step-children, Larry (Linda) Boyd and Alan Boyd; sister, Alberta "Tootsie" Landrum; grandchildren, Jay, George, Amy, Michael D. and Jessica Hoffman, Samantha Robinett, Eli and Samuel Hoffman, and Robert C. and Ross Duncan; step-grandchildren, Audrey and Rachel Boyd; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert D. "Bob" Hoffman; and siblings, Jim Schmitz, Pete Schmitz, and Margaret Holmes.
A private graveside service will be held at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
