He was born in Potsdam, NY on May 10, 1959, the son of Judson McCargar and Janet LaBaff, both of whom predeceased him. He graduated from Brushton-Moira High school and served in the United States Army motor pool. He worked many different jobs as a general carpenter, plumber, and electrician. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Malone.
He is survived by his children, Amanda Garcia and her husband Carlos of SC, Joshua McCargar and his wife Linsay McCargar of VT, Ashly McCargar of NY, Benjamin McCargar of NY, and Hunter McCargar of NY; six grandchildren, Christina, Karley, Kason, Tucker, Liberty, and Leo; his four siblings, Mary Ann Elliott and her partner William Furdyn of NY, Marcy Poirier of NY, Michael McCargar and his partner Theresa Martin of NY, and Mark McCargar of NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Marty was an extremely kind, gentle and loving man who very loved by everyone who knew him. He was very handy and could fix or build anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and sitting in his tree stand watching the animals. He loved sitting in the woods and enjoying the peace or riding his four-wheeler. He enjoyed spending time with his dog and partner in crime, Zues, who will now be lovingly looked after by his friend of more than 40 years and mother of two of his children, Sandra Smith. He made a lasting impact on everyone and his memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
