Marvene Griner, 68 of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 7 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with Bro. Tommy Brown officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 6 PM in the chapel.
Ms. Griner was born December 5, 1955, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Marvin P. & Shirley Ring Griner. She worked in the garment manufacturing industry for the Champion Company, Irwin Manufacturing, Fitzgerald Underwear, Modern Fibers, and Y & W Sportswear. She also worked as a stocker for Acosta serving local Harvey's and Winn-Dixie stores. She was an avid fan of the University of Alabama and enjoyed playing poker. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: Candi Vassey Wilson & Johnny of Ocilla and Cory Vassey & Nan of Ocilla; grandchildren: Venessa Calhoun & Luke, Rob Vassey, Rusty Barnes, and Cole Vassey; great-grandchildren: Gabriella Calhoun and Mia Calhoun; sisters: Debbie Steverson & Kenny and Tina Futch & Roy, all of Fitzgerald and Joanne Harper & Ron of Albany. Several nieces and nephews also survive as well as her faithful canine companion, Sugar. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Rodney Griner.
Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
