Marvin Hall, 99, of Oskaloosa, passed away on October 5, 2025, at Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Marvin Eugene Hall was the ninth child born to George McClelan and Malissa Jane (Bricker) Hall on August 25, 1926, in Chariton, Iowa. He was raised on a farm in Chariton, where he plowed the fields with horses and milked cows. He received his education in Chariton. On April 16, 1955, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Crooks; they resided on farms in southern Iowa and relocated to Oskaloosa in 1971. Marvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, and raising his hunting dogs, especially his Treeing Walkers. He also enjoyed gardening. He and Mary had a large garden where they grew a variety of produce. He and his grandson, Shawn, also bred rabbits, an activity he enjoyed. Marvin's family members include his two daughters: Betty DeWeese of Oskaloosa; and Connie (Gary Bruns) Utterback also of Oskaloosa; three grandchildren: April (Jason) Marth of Ottumwa; Amy (Chris Grenko) Utterback of Numa, Iowa; and Shawn (Rozilynn Gay) DeWeese of New Sharon; four great-grandchildren: Mason and Lilly Marth; and Delilah and Lola DeWeese. He is also survived by two sisters: Charlene McKinley of Chariton; and Florence Thompson of Colorado. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mary, and an infant daughter; his parents; five sisters: Gertrude Denning, Cleo Schuman, Thelma Johnson, Georgie Goben, and Beatrice B.; three brothers: Cecil, Clifford, and Hobbert Hall; nieces and nephews; and brothers and sisters-in-law. Visitation for Marvin will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Langkamp Funeral Chapel, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The family will be present to greet friends and relatives from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Old White Cemetery at a later date.
