PETERSTOWN, WV – Marvin Eugene "Pete" Long, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Radford, VA. Born November 2, 1952, in Pearisburg, VA, he was the son of the late Arthur Dean and Florence Oretha Rose Long. Pete worked at the Jiffy Lube in Narrows, VA. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Annie Waldron, Pauline Austin, Rosie Brookman, Teenie Wright, and Ruth Long; and one brother, David Long.
Survivors include his companion, Darcas Elaine Martin; two sons, Marvin Eugene Crutchfield and wife Missy of Narrows, VA, and Jamie Wimmer of NC; three stepchildren, Chris Rice and Mandy Rice, both of Peterstown, WV, and Douglas Martin of Florida; one sister, Cindy Snyder of Belspring, VA; special niece, Cathy "Sissy" Bennett of Belspring, VA; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Anthony Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunset View Cemetery in Bozoo, WV. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
