Marvin Lewis "Marty" Nelson Jr.

Marvin Lewis "Marty" Nelson, Jr., age 60 of 1675 Bellview Church Road, passed away Friday, February 9, 2024, at his home. He was a lifelong resident of Laurens County and was a son of Ruth Fulmer Nelson and the late Marvin Nelson.
Marty had serious medical issues over the years, and he showed courage in facing life's difficulties. Before he became sick, he worked for the SC Regional Housing Authority and Walmart Distribution Center.
Marty loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed yard work and his yard looked like a carefully manicured park. He also liked adventure and exploring as well as antiquing. He was very creative and enjoyed making things. Marty will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his mother, Ruth Fulmer Nelson; his sister, Ruth Marlynn Nelson Powell (George Clark Powell); and his brother, James Aaron Nelson (Dawn McKittrick Nelson). Marty loved his nieces and nephews and their children dearly. His nieces and nephews are Melanie Ruth Powell Zwan (David Allen Zwan), Michelle Rose Powell, Benjamin Seth Powell, Hannah Vivian Powell, Rebekah Victoria Powell, Corrie Elisabeth Powell Blumer (Eric Ryan Blumer), Anna Joe Powell, Marvin Isaac Powell, James Aaron Nelson, Jr. (Lizz Moore Nelson), and William Lee Nelson; and his great nephews and great nieces, Asher Joseph Zwan, Sophia Yael Zwan, Simon Joshua Zwan, Annie Hayes Nelson, James Aaron Nelson, III "Tripp", and James Ryan Blumer.
A Memorial service will be conducted Friday, February 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton with Rev. Roger Smith and Rev. Jim Hamilton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to a charity or organization of one's choice in memory of Marty Nelson.
