Marvin Schneider

Marvin Lee Schneider, 85, passed away on June 19, 2025 in Round Rock, Texas.
He was born in San Marcos, Texas on December 3, 1939.
Marvin is preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Marvin and Dell Schneider and his mother and step-father, Helen and Herman Gillmeister.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pat Schneider;
Children: Steve and Kristi Schneider, Dana and Sam Ragsdill, David Schneider, and adopted son John Lairsen;
Grandchildren: Ben and Kristina Schneider, Colin Schneider, Kiera Schneider, Trinity and Bobby Credeur, and Taylor Ragsdill;
Great-grandchildren: Krisara Schneider, Karissa Schneider, and Gavin Atkinson.
He was raised in Uhland/Lockhart, Texas and then Houston, Texas, where Marvin and Pat first met at age 12 and 9 respectively.
Marvin was a graduate of Milby High School in 1957 in Houston, Texas. He then went on to Texas A&M and was part of the Core/ROTC and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering in 1961.
Marvin and Pat married his senior year of college and after graduation began his military career in the Air Force. He served for 20 years in various locations, including 13 years at the Pentagon, where he was part of the US Department of Defense project team on ARPANET, the precursor to the internet. He attended George Washington University in the evenings to get his Masters degree in Computer Science. After retiring from the Air Force, the family moved back to Texas and made their home in Round Rock. He worked another 23 years at Tracor/BAE Systems.
Marvin was a Boy Scout and then Scout Master while Steve and David were in Boy Scouts. He loved spending time with his family. He also led many family projects including building gardens, basketball courts and decks, as well as many camping adventures. He supported Steve, David and Dana in their many sports, choir, band, and theater and many, many activities. He and Pat went on many cruises and dive trips with their best friends.
Sadly, Marvin developed Parkinson's 15 years ago from agent orange exposure during his Vietnam tour. Through his amazing neurologist and his loving and caring wife, he fought a valiant battle. Pat did an amazing job being his 24x7 caregiver for many years. Thank you to the wonderful and compassionate caregivers at the Waterford in Round Rock for taking such good care of him for the past 7 months.
Visitation will be held at Beck funeral home (15709 Ranch Road 620) on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held at Palm Valley Lutheran Church (2500 E Palm Valley Blvd) on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 11:00am. Saturday's service will be available via livestream (to be updated with link once available)
