Mary Agnes Bell, 94, of Evansville, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 at North River Health Campus surrounded by family. She was born in Orange, New Jersey to the late John J. and Alice A. (McLoughlin) Scully.
Mary retired from Deaconess Hospital in 1995. She previously worked for Hamburg's Department Store. Mary was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and was honored with the Bruté Society Award. She was in the third CHRP group at Holy Redeemer which is the longest existing group as they celebrate their 25th year anniversary. Mary was also a member of the Tree of Life Prayer Group and the Circle of Love Group. She attended Mass daily and helped decorate the sanctuary for over 50 years. Mary enjoyed making rosaries and square dancing in her younger years. She was also a member of the United We Stand Support Group during the Gulf War. Mary liked doing word search puzzles to keep her mind sharp. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Diane (Mike) Dick, Mary Ann (Billy) Mills and Patti (Jeffrey) Wittgen; son, John E. (Robin) Bell; grandchildren, Lora Dick (Thomas Ward), Brad (Autumn) Dick, Shawn (Annie) Dick, Thomas (Julie) Bell, Lisa (Colin) Thorne, Christopher Mills, Nickolas Mills, Jennifer Wittgen (Pete Browning) and Ben Wittgen (Emma Hasker); 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Michael Bell; and sisters, Winifred Long and Blanche Deane.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2025 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Ave., Evansville. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Rd., Evansville. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Father Eugene Schmitt officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
