Mary A. Bronka, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home in Troy, Michigan, on May 24, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on October 22, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, Mary was the daughter of the late Howard and Vera Thurman. She was a proud graduate of Seaholm High School and went on to earn her degree in Elementary Education from Michigan State University in 1967.
In 1968, Mary married the love of her life, Jack Bronka, in Madison Heights, Michigan. Together, they built a life centered around family, community, and lifelong travel worldwide. They made their home in Troy, Michigan, where Mary resided for the past 30 years.
Mary dedicated more than three decades to the Troy Public Library system, working as a library assistant. Her passion for books, education, and community engagement left a lasting impression on countless library patrons and colleagues.
She found great joy in sharing the lives of her cherished grandchildren-Isabel, Nathan, and Clara. She loved a good glass of Pinot Noir, Italian cuisine, and was an avid fan of live theater, particularly local performances and productions at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Thurman. She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Jack; their son, Scot Bronka (Cathy); and their three grandchildren, who brought endless joy to her life.
Funeral Mass Thursday, June 5, 2025 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3400 S Adams Rd, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Visitation at the church begins at 10 AM.
Mary will be remembered for her warmth, wit, and unwavering love for her family and community.
