Mary Evelyn "Etta" Anderson Chihasz, 89, of
Loudon, Tennessee, passed away on November 19, 2024. Those lucky enough to know her will remember her unwavering kindness, devotion to family and friends, and delightful sense of humor. Etta was born on December 18, 1934, to Millard C. ("M.C.") Anderson, Jr. and Carrie Lee Waller Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charlie Paul Chihasz, her sister Jo Anna "Jody" Anderson Hill, and her grandson, Caleb Chihasz. Her children survive her: son, C.P. Chihasz and wife Cindy of Abbeville, South Carolina; daughters Sara Chihasz and Lee Ann Chihasz of
Loudon, Tennessee; and her niece, Susan Hill Harrison (#1) of Philadelphia, Tennessee, who held a place in her heart as another daughter. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Clay Chihasz and wife Nicole of Seward, Nebraska, and Alyssa Owen and husband Caleb of Avondale Estates, Georgia; her cherished great-granddaughter, Lorelai Owen; and her great-granddog, Elle Owen. Etta will also be fondly remembered by her extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Etta was affectionately nicknamed "The Witch" by her familyyes, affectionately! Mary Evelyn's faith was a constant in her life, and she was an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Loudon. She was honored as a Golden Patron Member of the Mission Ministry Team of the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Women (CPW) and found comfort and companionship in the monthly gatherings of the WOW widows' group. Etta's life was enriched by the many friendships she formed throughout the years, including during her time working at Maremont, where she made lifelong connections. She took great joy in staying in touch with friends and enjoyed lunch at Cracker Barrel in Lenoir City where the food was only part of the drawcatching up with old friends was her true delight. Her competitive streak came alive during Bingo games, where she enjoyed taking quarters from her fellow players. She also enjoyed Loudon High School and University of Tennessee athletics. Etta liked to travel with friends and family and enjoyed several group bus trips. A particular highlight of her life was fulfilling her dream of seeing Elvis Presley in concert. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Wood Village for the compassionate care they provided to Mary Evelyn. Memorial contributions may be made to The Hugh Harrison Memorial Fund, which provides grants to high school seniors pursuing a career in trade, at P.O. Box 26, Philadelphia, Tennessee, 37846.Family and friends will meet 1:30 PM Sunday, November 24th for an interment service in the Roberson Cemetery. Following the interment service, a service to honor and remember Mary Evelyn will be held 3 PM at the Loudon Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark Hester and Rev. Brian Courtney officiating.
