Mary Grace Constantino Oden passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at her residence at the age of 70. She was born on February 19, 1954, in
New Orleans, Louisiana, to (& proceeded in death by) Leo Anthony Constantino and Rose Mary Iannazzo Constantino.
Mary Grace is also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Edward Ray Oden, brother John Leo Constantino, Godson John Leo Constantino, Jr., brother-in-law Thomas William Keegan, III, father-in-law, and mother-in-law Maurice Ray Oden and Hazel Kettle Oden.
Mary Grace leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Michael Edward Oden (Carisa), Rachael Lee Oden, Angelle Oden Williams (Teddy), and stepson Sean Aaron Oden (Kathy) and step granddaughter Kendall Peterson (and family of Texas). The proudest title she held was "Maw Maw" to Abigail Oden, Felix Oden, Sebastian Oden, and Hazel Rose Williams. She leaves behind her loving sister Jo Ann C. Keegan and sister-in-law Debbie Constantino, her Aunt Mary Rose Constantino Tarsney, devoted cousins, and many nephews & nieces. She was a Godmother to four, but was "Nanny" to many.
Mary Grace graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School as the class of 1971. She received many accolades, but being recognized as Senior Class, "Most Wittest" Chipmunk, was a lifelong achievement she worked hard to maintain in the laughter she spread to others. She stayed in touch, with Chapelle classmates who affectionately call themselves "The Group", sharing their adult family lives, their children's milestones, and experiencing many routine dining and travelling adventures over the last 54 years. After graduating as a pharmacist from NLU in 1976, she worked with her father at Constantino's Drugs (a long standing independent Pharmacy 1949-1985) until 1980, when her Dad passed and continued until she helped sell the family business in 1985. She then continued her career as a pharmacist for both Eckerd's Drugs and Fasullo's Pharmacy.
Mary Grace played sports at school and Jefferson Playground in her youth and started a long "very athletic" career as a bowler as a young girl at Bowlarama in Old Jefferson. She continued in the Women's Wednesday morning league at Colonial for over 20 yrs, and hardly ever missed bowling on a Wednesday night in the Harahan Mix League at Colonial Bowling Alley for the last 40+ years. She was a graduate of St Agnes School, then later very involved as a St. Agnes parent and Scout Leader. She was a member of the St. Agnes Atler Society, all while a devoted parishioner of St. Agnes Catholic Church, where she resided the majority of her life. Relatives and friends are invited to visit St. Agnes Catholic Church, 3310 Jefferson Highway, Jefferson, Louisiana 70121, on Friday, January 17, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM. The burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
