Patricia Anne Laster Facquet age 68, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at her residence in Hauppauge, NY surrounded by her loving family.
Patricia was the devoted wife to the love of her life, Emmett L. Facquet, Sr for 50 years. She was the beloved mother to two children: Victoria Facquet Johnson (late, Raymond, Jr.) and Emmett L. Facquet, II (Melanie). She will also be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Raymond Johnson, III, Dominik Facquet (Paige), Kathryn Facquet, Emmett Facquet, III, and Conner Cyr; her brother Paul Ervin Laster (late, Melanie); brother-in-law, Philip Facquet (Karen); sister-in-law, Marie Lowe (Harold); nieces and nephews: Philip A. Facquet, III (Denise), Julie F. Klimchak (John), Elizabeth F. Starliper (late, Robert), Kimberly F. Powell (Mark), Brian P. Facquet (Benat), Renee L. Barnes (Darryl), Adrienne Laster Horton (Tony), and Kelsey Laster Stanke (Bryan); as well as many cousins and great nieces & nephews.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Dempsey and Ervin Frost Laster; and her sister's Susan Maria and, Karen Herndon (late, Michael LeBlanc).
Patricia graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School in
Metairie, LA in 1975. She worked as a Registered Nurse during a career that spanned more than 44 years. She graduated from Charity Hospital School of Nursing New Orleans, Louisiana in 1981 and received her Masters in Education with specialization in Nursing Education from the School of Education at Cambridge College in Boston, Massachusetts in 2005. In 2008, she received a Masters in Public Health from the College of Health Sciences at Walden University. Patricia was a Public Health PhD candidate at Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was awaiting her dissertation on Parental/Caregiver Health Literacy and Knowledge on Lead Poisoning.
She started her nursing career at Charity Hospital in New Orleans where she fell in love with pediatrics and became the nurse manager of the new Neonatal intensive unit at Touro Infirmary. She became a school nurse with the Orleans Parish School System where she retired after 20 years and then moved to New York City. While in New York, she wanted to give back to the nursing profession and became an instructor at Queensborough Community College, Department of Nursing, Bayside, NY. Next she became the Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing at Adelphi University, College of Nursing & Public Health. Then finally she was the Chairperson, Department of Nursing at St. Francis College, Department of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY where she retired in July 2024.
Patricia won many awards during her extensive nursing career. One that was very special to her was being named a US Nursing Delegate to China in the People to People Ambassador Program Pediatric Palliative Care in 2005 at the China International Nursing Conference. She was also honored as a Great 100 Nurse for the New Orleans District Nurses Association in 1990.
Patricia was an active member of the Imperial Court of New York, an organization that supports LGBTQIA+ community. She held multiple positions in the organization and helped raise thousands of dollars for the community. She is also an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau International, American Nurses Association, American Nurses Association of New York, National Student Nurses Association, Chappelle Alumni and Chairty School of Nursing Alumni. When she lived in New Orleans, she was a member of the Air Civil patrol, Louisiana Nurses Association and New Orleans District Nurses Association.

In New York -Visitation will be held at Commack Abbey Funeral Home, 96 Commack Road, Commack, NY 11725 on Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm and Monday, April 28, 2025 beginning at 10:00 am a Mass at Christ the King Church, 2 Indian Head, Commack, New York, 11725.
In New Orleans - Visitation will be on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am followed by a Mass and Burial at Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive,
Metairie, LA. 70001.
