Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory - Peachtree Corners Chapel on Jan. 3, 2023.
Mary Sue Dodson, age 85, of
Suwanee, Georgia, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Bell-Minor Home in
Gainesville, GA, with her precious roommate, Carrie Williams at her side. Her loving daughters had been with her late into the evening before, surrounding her with songs, prayers, laughter, and tears as they knew her time was drawing very near.
Funeral services for Sue will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Peachtree Corners Chapel of Crowell Brothers Funeral Homes & Crematory with Eric Shewbridge and King Chapman officiating. Entombment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens,
Duluth, GA. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Sue was born November 11, 1937, in
Hornbeak, TN, to the late John A. McCorkle and the late Mary Louise McCorkle; also preceding Sue in death was her beloved husband, Bob Dodson.
Sue was a devoted Christian and a faithful member at Trinity Christian Fellowship. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, clothing design and technology. She was last employed as a graphic designer before retiring, and had enjoyed photography for many years, including having her own dark room. She thrived on knowledge and believed you never should stop learning. Times dearest to her were the moments she spent with her family, taking great delight in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sue is survived by her daughters, Susan and husband, Eric Shewbridge, Debi Chapman, and former son-in-law, King Chapman; beloved grandchildren, Ashley and husband, Matt Hartsock, Brigitte Shewbridge, Joshua and wife, Tennile Chapman, Daniel and wife, Grace Shewbridge, Keeley and husband, Austin Jenkins, and Preston Shewbridge; her brother, David and wife, Connie McCorkle; cherished great-grandchildren, Ramsay Hartsock, Evelyn Hartsock, Fiona Jenkins, Charli Howell, Penny Jenkins, Bram Shewbridge, Donovan Hartsock and Taytum Shewbridge; nephews, Ken McCorkle and wife, Holly, Wesley McCorkle and wife, Christi; niece, Jill Vahl and husband, Kevin; great-nephews, Alex Vahl and Troy Vahl; great-nieces, Kendall McCorkle and Carsen McCorkle; as well as a host of extended family and close friends.
Sue was known to tell anyone she loved "any color as long as it was red," so her family requests that, if possible,
attendees wear something red to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Anointed Ambassadors, https://anointedambassadors.com/donate/, in loving memory of "Mary Sue Dodson".
