ORWELL- Mary Anne Eddy, age 93, passed peacefully on Dec. 11, 2025

with family at her side, at her home in Orwell.

Mary Anne was born in Kingston, NY on April 17, 1932. She was the

daughter of Harry T. And Catharine (Cassidy) Merrill. She grew up in

Kingston, NY and Rowayton, CT. She graduated from Norwalk (CT) High

School, and earned her Bachelor's Degree in music from Danbury State

Teachers College (presently Western CT State University).

On December 6, 1952 she married the love of her life Charles Fremont

Eddy III, a World War II veteran, and college classmate. She taught

private piano lessons, completed college courses, and performed as an

accomplished concert pianist, all while raising their young children in

Connecticut.

The Eddys moved to Orwell, VT with their five children in 1966, where

Mary Anne earned her Master's Degree in Education from Castleton State

College. She taught at Shoreham Elementary School for over 20 years,

where she adored each and every one of her third-grade students. She

also taught Catechism class and played organ at St. Paul's Catholic

Church in Orwell.

Mary Anne was very artistic and enjoyed painting, with several of her

oil paintings having been publicly displayed and now decorating friends

homes.

Surviving are four children: Chuck Eddy IV and wife Cathy (Shackett)

Eddy, Thomas Eddy and wife Anne (Bartlett) Eddy, Beth Eddy Montello and

husband Nick, and Nell Eddy Ellis and husband Mike. Her sister Kathy

Merrill Worth and husband James V. Worth of Spring Lake, NJ; and brother

James P. Merrill of Palm Coast, FL. Several grand- and great grand-

children.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles Fremont Eddy III,

her precious daughter Catharine Anne Eddy, and grandson Daniel P. Ellis.

Also her brother H. Thomas Merrill, and parents Harry T. And Catharine

Cassidy Merrill.

A private gathering "In Celebration of Her Life" will take place at a

later date. A private graveside committal service and burial will take

place in the Spring at Mountain View Cemetery in Orwell.

Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made in her memory to

Addison County Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 754, Middlebury, VT

05753.
